How The Sleep News Reviews Products

Money can pay for a placement or generate a commission. It cannot buy our conclusion.

Research-based comparisons

We use company documents for current product facts and primary studies or official sources for evidence and health claims. A research-based comparison is not a hands-on test. We state what we did and did not test.

Hands-on reviews

A hands-on review states the exact model, software version, test period, setup, comparison method, failures, and limits. Receiving a product does not turn a personal impression into scientific validation.

What we assess

Where relevant, we assess evidence quality, accuracy, comfort, setup, privacy, data export and deletion, subscriptions, warranty, returns, durability, repair, total cost, value, and conflicts of interest. Missing information is not treated as a neutral result.

Affiliate links

Some product links may be affiliate links. If you buy through one, The Sleep News may earn a commission at no additional cost to you. We place the disclosure close to the first relevant link. We do not rank a product higher because it pays more. A product without an affiliate program can still be our preferred choice.

Free and loaned products

If a company provides a free or loaned product, we disclose it near the review. The company does not receive approval rights over our conclusions. We disclose whether the product must be returned.

Sponsorships

Paid placements are labeled as paid sponsorships. Sponsors may check facts about their own product. They cannot edit independent reporting, choose a verdict, suppress material limits, or see unrelated editorial work before publication.

Supplements

Supplement coverage faces a higher bar. We assess the exact ingredient, dose, formulation, intended population, warnings, interactions, label, testing claims, recalls, and current availability. Evidence for one ingredient or dose is not transferred to another product. We do not claim that a supplement diagnoses, treats, cures, prevents, or manages disease.

Corrections and medical scope

We date product coverage and correct material errors. The Sleep News provides general information, not personal medical advice. Consumer products do not replace clinical assessment or sleep testing.
